A weekend at home

When I say: "I am at home." People usually ask: "Oh so you are in Constanta for the weekend?" No, not at all. I'm home, in Bucharest. After I had fun with a friend who slept over at my place Friday night, I went at the market and bought lots of flowers! Now the room is filled with wonderful scent. I love those colors so much: pink, white, yellow!! I just couldn't ask for more! As the weather was cloudy, windy and cold I decided to spend my weekend at home... reading, painting, writing on the blog and listening to music. I had a relaxing time... but I didn't do everything I had in mind. Is time passing too fast...? Or maybe I am just moving very slowly, being very lazy...

Unfortunately, the flowers I bought are not so fresh.... because winter is almost here. I am dreaming of fine sunny weather... What do I have in mind? It's time to prepare for snowy days, exams....and Christmas. Should I write a wish list and sent it to Santa?

The "Private Moon" of Leonid Trishkov

I had to participate at this event.... I just couldn't help myself because it seemed like such a nice idea. It is about this Russian man, Leonid Trishkov who is travelling the world with this Moon he created. He brought his Moon to Bucharest too, at Seneca AntiCafe... and me and my friends were there to meet him. He told us his story, how the whole adventure started. He even visited the North Pole with the Moon and he took great photos.  The project is named "Private Moon".
After the presentation, we had to complete a task, part of the event. They gave us drawing paper, pencils and markers and we had to create our own story about the Moon. I enjoyed it very much!
I heard Seneca AntiCafe was recently opened. It is a nice place indeed. You can do almost anything there, read, drink tea, play games with your friends, study, draw or simply have a pleasant spare time. Everything is clean, shiny and new. They also have books for sale. The staff is nice too. A friendly Russian lady greet us and showed us around... and guess what... art students receive a discount.. of course hahaha We had to pay 4 lei per hour while the usual price is 8 lei. Unfortunately, this cafe is pretty far away from the university.
Check out Seneca Anticafe! Maybe the Moon is still there waiting for you!

This is what I could invent.... It's the story of some hungry sheep that ate the Moon while the owners weren't paying attention. Leonid Trishkov seemed to like it. He told me I should write more stories. He said I have talent. What if it's true?

Back by the sea

After the two-week course in Bucharest, I returned home to enjoy the most beautiful weather by the sea. Even though I loved being away exploring the capital city, I was glad to come back. Now I have to wait till the 10th September, the day of the admission exam, and also my birthday. hahah I will return to Bucharest then for three days and after that... I hope... for the next three years. It was a great adventure (and... still is) and I treasured every moment of it but for God's sake, I want this whole story to come to an end! I want to be a student and go to sleep without thinking about any exam anymore. At least for a while.
As I was saying, I am enjoying fine weather here in Constanta. The sea is blue, the sky is tall and clear the sun is shining and.... there is nobody around. Tourists seen to have disappeared during those two weeks. In other words, perfect! :)) Strolling around town on a sunny day is a delight.

I came home just in time to say bye-bye to friends who left Romania yesterday for the UK. From now on they are university students in London. I wish them good luck and all the best. I hope to see them soon.
As I am standing by sea I can feel something different in the air. The sun light is not the same, the sky has a deeper color. I am not the same either. Yes, autumn is almost here.

Hello Sunshine

This little painting is almost one year old. I didn't post it till now because... well I don't actually remember why..... The pictures were uploaded, the unfinished post only needed a text.. Here it is! This is one of my last "petit dolls". It's been so long since I've painted a doll..... Although there are many people who don't like them I think they are not so bad. I used to have so much fun painting dolls. I love them and I'm the Doll Queen! :)) No I'm not kidding. I'll never be able to paint petits like before, you know why? Because the new ones will be even more beautiful ! ;-) Wait till I pass the admission exams at the university this summer ! Then I'll have plenty of time to paint dolls !

Seashell collection

As I'm living in a city on the Black Sea shore, I've always been fascinated by shells, rocks or pieces of wood and glass I found on the beach. Even now, I can spend hours and hours in the sand searching for this kind of masterpieces. To me, they are truly beautiful, unique. They are my little treasure. Look at those structures, those colors.... There is no greater artist than Mother Nature. My seashell collection reminds me every day that beauty is all around; all we have to do is live the present moment and observe. I love so much living by the sea !!

This is the first post in which I used pictures taken with my macro lens. I really like the effects ;-) More macro pics coming soon....

Cyprus adventure part 1

As exams are approaching you might think that, during my entire spring holiday I stayed at home like a nice girl and studied. But no. My parents offered me the most wonderful vacation in the world! We visited Cyprus and spent a great week away from home.

Cyprus is an island located south from Turkey in the middle of beautiful Mediterranean Sea. Although it should belong entirely to Greece, the northern part of the island is under Turkish occupation since 1974. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is only recognized by Turkey. The political situation is complicated even today with the Turkish army maintaining pressure at the border.

Despite the frightening "concentration camp" fences we saw now and then along the road, we had no trouble and we spent most of our time on the Greek part of the island. We rent a car so we can move around easily. That's how most tourists do and I also think it's the most practical and cheap idea. Ours was a nice red Ford. hahah. Rented cars there have red numbers so locals always know who they deal with. :-)

First impressions were astonishing. The weather was fine, sunny and warm, while in Bucharest we had to survive a windy, rainy one. brrrr During the first day we had lots of time to explore the neighborhood. We stayed at Frixos Hotel in Dekeleia, 10 km away from Larnaka. (which I'm going to talk about later)
Everywhere, beautiful white houses and bungalows, summer villas I wish I owned just next to the beach. The air was fresh and sweet smelling. Trees and bushes were all flowery. Lemon trees, orange trees, palm trees and so many other plants I don't know the names of. Walking around town was a delight. One could feel the sun gently touch his skin, smell only divine flavors and see only beauty.

I liked very much our hotel. It had a remote backyard and a big swimming pool. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and had a bonus great view of the gorgeous blue sea. I also loved the fresh fruits, squash and delicious cakes they gave us for breakfast. There was always someone there if you had any question and the staff was one of the most friendly I've ever met.

Larnaka is one of the biggest cities, 10 km away from our hotel in Dekeleia. It's famous around the world for its palm trees main boulevard. Actually, the first picture I've ever seem of Cyprus on Pinterest was of this street. It is truly wonderful, next to the sea shore and the touristic harbor. We strolled around narrow cobbled streets in the old town paying attention to the cars. People there drive so fast! They surely aren't patient drivers. But as I usually enjoy lively streets, I had no problem with that.
Oh and I loved the huge fountain. :-D

Part two coming soon... ;-)
